What Users Didn't Value
Underused Features
In general, users greatly underused the platform. However, this is in accordance with the Pareto Principle. That is, we can expect 80% of people to utilize only 20% of the website. This means that we need place greater emphasis (higher in the visual hierarchy) on what users value most.
Data Digest
People didn't pay much attention to the data digest, which takes up a considerable amount of important space above the fold.
The data digest, outlined in red, takes up too much space above the fold for something users don't value.
Pain Points
Colored Dots
Some users questioned what the different colors of the dots mean. Those who questioned it, didn't find the answer.
Return to Dashboard
The detailed property page opens in a new tab. Many users get confused with how to return to the dashboard. This goes against the heuristic, User Control and Freedom.
Opportunities
Calculator for Extra Costs
Users who entered data into a spreadsheet used the spreadsheet to calculate extra costs they expect to incur because of the investment (i.e. taxes, utilities, HOA fees, etc). This provides an opportunity for AllTheRooms to offer this feature and delight the user.
Filter by Metrics
One user opened all of the property cards in order to open the detailed property page only of the cards that have an occupancy rate above 65%. Another user wished to filter by the average daily rate. Adding the option to filter by metrics (like the occupancy rate and average daily rate), it would align with the heuristic, flexibility and efficiency of use.
Property Card Quick Link
The primary reason users opened the detailed property page from the property card was to go to the AirBnB listing. This could be streamlined by offering a quick link to the AirBnB listing in the property card.
On the right This is an example of a property card. Once the user clicks on the photo, the site opens a detailed property page. The primary reason users open the detailed property page is to go to the AirBnB listing. This flow could be streamlined if there were a quick-link to the AirBnB listing.
